Friday evening

I’m sort of settled at the moment, i bought some old second hand furniture this day. Kristina is truly a lifesaver. She was so nice to offer me to rent a van and pick up all the stuff. We’ve been busy all day driving around and finding furniture. I feel a bit guilty right now by asking so much of her. But anyways, I bought an old closet, which is falling apart, a really small and unstable desk, a lazy old chair (this is now a correct English word) and a bed for 400 Krona (around 40 euros) in total. Friggin’ A. My mattress, blanket and pillow (brand new) was 5 times more money. Still have to buy a desk chair, carpet, and some small stuff to finish it off.

Lode arrived today too, and is staying at my place (Really nice to speak Dutch again). The problem is that he couldn’t pick up the keys, because the people at the office left earlier than expected. Now he has the wait until Monday to go to the office, so I have a roommate ‘till Monday. He’s going to try to arrange to get in his room for the weekend, it will be quite a problem to move and study at the same time next week.

Tomorrow we’re gonna go to Vasteras to sign in, but first we’re going to IKEA to look around. We can order some stuff, that will be dropped of at our place.

In Eskilstuna

What a long day. I’m finally in my room to type some crap. I arrived arround 3 o’ clock, i went straight to the landlord, which is in fact an big company and located across the other side of the city (may I say city?). Damn heavy with all those bags. I feel like an lost tourist.
At the office I thought I had to take a ticket, because there was a waiting line. So I waited my turn like a gentleman, then they told me that i could be helped at another desk (which was somewhere hidden behind a giant plant and there was no one there). So I waited for around 15 minutes for nothing. Damn.
Then I had to go back where I came from (with all those damn bags) to get in my room.
I had to find the right keys and doors, but after some searching found the place. The room looks really nice, but of course entirely empty. I gave a short introduction of myself to everyone who was there, hopefully I’ll see some more people tomorrow.

I dumped my stuff and called Kristina. It was really nice to see her again. We went something to eat (strangely I wasn’t very hungry) and afterwards we went to her place to pick up some stuff that she doesn’t use any more. I’m now a proud owner of a plastic desk lamp and another lamp. Tomorrow we gonna pick up her old table, which i can sure use.

First impressions:
Eskilstuna is a nice little city, I think I will like it here. It’s a bit pittoresk, but has a mordern touch to it. My room is located next to the Train station, university and near the centrum. great!

Traveling…

I will have way too much time while traveling, so I will keep you up to date with boring posts.

8.50 arriving a the airport
 —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -
I just said goodbye to my parents, my dad helped me carrying my bags to the check in. My mom had to stay with the car, so I said goodbye to her. There was a lot of snow on the road, so it took a bit longer than expected.

9.50 check in
 —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -
wow, my baggage check went rather easy, despite that I had way to much weight and 2 bags. Hopefully the bags will be there when I get in Stockholm. i’m waiting for the gates to open, will take a couple of minutes I think. Düsseldorf is a rather lame airport, it’s way to expensive too. 8 euros for a coffee and a sandwich, the bastards.

10.42 in the airplane
 —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -
Jeeeeej, finally on my way to Stockholm Arlanda! I’ve never been in such an empty plane. i think there around 15 people max. Unfortunately the stewardesses are not beautiful blond women. In fact I think they have to same age as my mom.
Shht, don’t let them know.
Damn, i think I’m really gonna miss the “your mom” jokes back at my school.

Somewhere in between

I’ve made a background for my mac, it’s crap, but i think its awesome. Download that shizzle!

13.52 good ol’ trains!
 —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -
great they have an charger here in the second class, you can’t beat that. For a moment I thought that there was also internet here, but you have to be in first class to use it (booo).
Stockholm is not very cold, but at least there is some snow. Just now it really gets me that i’m in a strange foreign country. A lot of big rock-things, a lot of pinetrees and wooden red and yellow buildings. The nature looks at the moment a bit like a crossover between the Spa (in Belgium, not far form my parents house) and the Veluwe (a flat sandy natural park in the middle of the Netherlands). But I expected more mountains! I think I have to travel more up north for that.

fact: my first buy with Swedish money was a Whopper. Legendary.

ARGHH!

After a hectic and stressful but fun time I’m finally in the train heading home (at least, back to my parents) to pack all my stuff. The last few days where really busy. I’ve been visiting some friends and family to say goodbye. I went criss-cross through the whole country to see everyone for the last time. I’ve been to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Tilburg, Maastricht, Hilversum  (I had to sleep there at an old friends place, because I’ve gave up my own room) and at last to my birth place Sittard to pack my stuff.

Yesterday I had to work for the last time at my internship company. They gave a little goodbye party, which was a nice end for this working period. I’m really gonna miss my colleagues and the place (Also my crappy computer with more crappy network settings)

Tomorrow is the big day, i have the 10.30 flight to Stockholm from Dusseldorf. Fortunately it’s not a long drive from my parents house, so I can have some sleep before I leave.
I will arrive around half past 12 in Stockholm, then I’ve have to take a 1 1/2 hour train ride to Eskilstuna (still don’t know how to pronounce it properly). So I would arrive around 2 o’ clock. I’ve made an appointment with the landlord, so hopefully i can get in my room immediately. The next few days I think I’m busy buying some furniture, arranging my internetaddiction and hopefully meeting some people and enjoying the Swedish nightlife.

Friday arrives my co-student Lode, so I’m planning to wait for him at the train station. I’m gonna call him tonight if he has some more info.

Ow crap i forgot to buy some chewing gum. I swear to Sportlife, and I’m not sure if the sell this brand in Sweden, so I’m going to buy a whole box in the supermarket immediately to be sure.

First post!

Hi there, welcome to my blog! As the title says I’m going to Sweden for a half year to study at Malardalen University. I’ll leave Thursday morning already, so its really coming close. I’ve arranged as much as possible, so I hope everything goes nice and smooth the coming days.

At the moment I’ m working for the last day at my internship company, so I have to say goodbye to everyone here. It’s a bit of a shame that I have to leave so early here, but I think it’s worth it by studying in a foreign country.

I’m still finetuning the design and testing everything so hopefully I’ll have a working blog in a few days!
